System Engineer

The Systems Administrator's primary responsibilities consist of technical work involving monitoring, setup, and maintenance of production network environments, applications, and systems.  Monitors server backups and software updates over the networks.  Ability to assist clients in successful completion of current project initiatives by providing technical field and phone support.

General Job Responsibilities:
  • Day to day systems management, administration, and monitoring.
  • Design and engineer network and server solutions including upgrading, installing, and building out network hardware and server environments.
  • Oversees and maintains a high level of quality service and participates in monitoring and status reporting.
  • Install physical network, server and storage equipment into racks.
  • Generates documentation for all systems/procedures for systems.
  • Maintain client security levels and confidentiality of information.
  • Perform server and workstation updates and patches.
  • Input and manage tickets through ticketing system.
  • Partner with management and other staff to communicate client feedback & recommended to any problems.
Operational Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage a set of priorities for the design, maintenance, development and evaluation of all infrastructure systems, including Windows Server, Exchange Server, and Hyper-V.
  • Conduct feasibility studies for various upgrade projects, improvements, and other conversions.
  • Make recommendations for hardware and software standards in conjunction with management.
  • Test server performance and provide network performance statistics and reports; develop strategies for maintaining server infrastructure.
  • Resolve all incidents for hardware and software that are escalated to level 2/3 priority status.
  • Provide technical mentoring for junior level resources.

Technical Skills/Qualifications:
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience supporting and engineering network and server solutions utilizing the Microsoft Windows Server, Exchange Server, Hyper-V product stacks.
  • 3+ years of experience managing and delivering infrastructure design and operational excellence.
  • Intermediate understanding of Network technologies including DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, VPNs, content filtering, firewalls, etc.
  • Active Directory Services, Terminal Services, SQL Server, VMware, TCP/IP Networking Concepts.
  • Basic understand of NAS and SAN storage systems using iSCSI, Fiber Channel and SAS.
  • Data Center Management and Storage Technologies experience desired.
  • Bachelor's Degree in IT related field of study.
